Who runs Distribution SX.e

SX.e and its cloud sibling, CloudSuite Distribution, run a large share of mid-market industrial, MRO and specialty distribution — companies big enough to have a real integration story and small enough that the order desk is still four people.

Where the manual work actually is

Sites on SX.e usually have EDI working and a portal live, and still key a substantial daily volume by hand. The remaining orders are the awkward ones: a customer's own part numbers, a quantity in an unusual unit, a revision to something ordered last week.

How orders get into Distribution SX.e

There is more than one route in, and which one suits you depends on what your site already licenses and trusts. These are the routes worth knowing before any conversation about integration.

Infor ION

ION converts data into standardized XML so Infor products, third-party applications and in-house software can exchange it. It is the documented integration backbone for SX.e and CloudSuite Distribution, and third-party order automation runs across it.

Sales-order API

Infor's own community documents order creation in CloudSuite Distribution through the SX.e order maintenance API surface. The specific endpoint and version in use at your site is confirmed with your administrator rather than assumed here.

Where FrontBeacon stops

FrontBeacon produces the reviewed order and hands it to whichever route your site already trusts. The review step sits before the handoff, not after it, so nothing reaches ION or the order API until a person has approved it.

  • FrontBeacon is not an Infor partner and holds no certified SX.e or CloudSuite connector.
  • The exact endpoint and version are established with your administrator during the snapshot.

Common questions

We are mid-migration from SX.e to CloudSuite. Does that matter?
Not much, and it is often a good moment to do this. FrontBeacon sits in front of the ERP rather than inside it, so the review workflow does not change when the system underneath it does. The handoff format changes; the desk's process does not.
Conexiom already covers Infor. Why you?
Conexiom does cover the ION-based Infor systems, and it is a capable enterprise product. The difference is price, scope and the size of the project: FrontBeacon is aimed at independent distributors who want the emailed-PO path solved without an enterprise implementation. See the Conexiom comparison for a fuller answer.
